Or Akiva

Address: Balfour 17, Or Akiva

Days of Operation: Sunday-Thursday

Hours: 10:00-14:00

Branch Manager: Ms. Ilanit Chafuta

The Or Akiva branch is located in a campus between two floors. Before we begin to describe the branch itself, however, we must mention the lush lawns outside. The entire area is filled with green squares. In the plaza outside the building, one can already feel the beauty of the kindness taking place inside. Meet the one and only Ilanit Haputa – Or Akiva’s branch manager. Ilanit is a professor in kindness. One cannot meet Ilanit and not immediately notice the sheer goodness pouring out of her. You cannot speak to her without being interrupted after a few minutes by another teenager who needs her. Ilanit serves as the mother and father to countless children and teenagers. She holds their hands – physically and figuratively. Every person in need knows whom to turn to in Or Akiva. The Or Akiva Meir Panim branch serves as the address for every request – in times of distress, and in times of joy as well. Along with her volunteers, Ilanit cooks delicious, nutritious food. In the afternoon, the visitors will begin to stream in to enjoy a kind word while preparing trays filled with quality food and packaging separate meals for the children back home. Ilanit always knows which word to offer. The branch is her baby; everything begins here. Ask anyone in Or Akiva who the city’s mother is, and the answer will always be: Ilanit Haputa. Ilanit also manages the afternoon clubs with the art of an educator. Every child receives personal attention, as though he were her own son. Parties and birthdays are not just another event – every party is a personal, well-invested affair, and every child receives a personalized birthday cake, his name spelled out in frosting on the glaze. The city residents’ love for Meir Panim is famous. Even the police and municipality know where to turn with every request they receive.

Dimona

Branch Address: Hamekabim, Yoseftal Center, Dimona

Days of Operation: Sunday-Thursday

Hours: 08:00-13:00

Restaurant Manager: Mr. Nissim Almakayes

The Dimona branch is a campus, including a dining room, a volunteer room, a board game room, and a tiny office – the office of Nissim Almakayes. You're also invited to meet Nissim Almakayes, the manager of the Dimona branch. From this small room, Nissim manages a vast network of kindness. The room looks like a command center with a task board and deadlines for completion. From here, Nissim's volunteers go out to purchase food supplies for the branch that feeds over 800 people a day. Some will come to the branch to eat their only hot meal of the day, while others will receive deliveries to their homes. A Holocaust survivor sits in his home waiting for Nissim's volunteers. The knock on the door signifies that someone thought of him, someone cares and will continue to care. He won't lack food – Meir Panim will always ensure that. By noon, everything runs like clockwork. Some volunteers go to the homes of lonely, disabled, and elderly people to deliver their lunch and check on their well-being, while others stay at the branch to welcome visitors. At 12:00 PM, the branch buzzes with activity. Meals are also served by volunteers doing community service, and Nissim gently guides them on how to return to life and embark on a new path. Nissim's team also includes intellectually disabled individuals. The love Nissim showers on them is immeasurable. They love Nissim, and Nissim loves them. In the afternoon, Nissim runs a seniors' club and supervises the volunteers at the nearby Koch L'Tet branch. He's attentive to whether a couple is about to get married and lacks the means to furnish their home – Nissim helps them with all their needs.

Branch Manager: Yehudit Elimalech

The Tiberias branch overlooks the beautiful view of the Sea of Galilee, and inside the branch, angels of kindness roam. Yehudit Alimalech, the branch manager, oversees the cooking operations in white aprons, and together with the volunteers, they cook steaming pots of soup and the scents of the dishes waft through Galil Street in Tiberias from the early morning hours. In the afternoons, a diverse crowd from all walks of life enters the branch. The branch manager, along with the volunteers, approaches each one of them, inquiring about their well-being and health. When Yehudit hears that a child has been born to one of the needy, joy overflows: cakes come out of the oven, and balloons are hung in the branch, making everyone feel at home.

Jerusalem

Address: Hatzvi 11, Jerusalem

Days of Operation: Sunday-Thursday

Hours: 11:00-14:00

Branch Manager: Ms. Daniel Shefaim

The Jerusalem branch operates harmoniously under the management of Daniel and a team of volunteers from diverse backgrounds. In the Jerusalem branch, you can see rehabilitated prisoners alongside volunteers, all standing together in the early morning hours, peeling potatoes and cleaning lettuce leaves for lunch. At 11:30, the flow of diners begins to arrive at the restaurant. Among them are single mothers, lonely elderly people, and individuals struggling to make ends meet. Daniel and the team of volunteers welcome everyone with smiles and love. They make sure to ask each one whether they would like another portion or perhaps are interested in "takeaway" meals. All of this is done with a smile and a generous spirit. Some say that they come to the branch just to see Daniel's smile and to be swept up in his positive energy.

Holocaust Survivors in Need – Social Responsibility and Mutual Support

Every act of giving and every initiative brings the core values of dignity, empathy, and compassion back to the forefront — leaving a real impact, both in people’s hearts and in everyday reality.
When it comes to Holocaust survivors, this isn’t just charity — it’s about restoring the respect and care owed to those who have already suffered enough. So how can we do it? Here’s everything you need to know.

The Unwritten Promise to the Survivors

In Israeli society, there’s a quiet, almost unspoken agreement — something beyond law or constitution. It’s the moral contract with the generation of survivors.
Those who survived hell, came to Israel, and built new lives, families, and communities. For them, society promised respect, support, and protection — not as a favor, but as a duty.
Yet, today’s reality looks very different from that promise.

Hundreds of Holocaust survivors in Israel live below the poverty line — not metaphorically, but literally. Many cannot afford medications, heating in the winter, or even proper food.
Some live completely alone: their families didn’t survive, friends have passed away, and they remain by themselves with painful memories and a cost of living that crushes any pension.
Many live in old, deteriorating apartments, unable to fix a broken shower or replace an oven that stopped working years ago.

Our Last Chance to Help

This situation cannot last forever — simply because time is running out.
This is society’s final opportunity — for every one of us — to reach out and help.
Social responsibility is not a slogan or a sign at a protest. It’s real action. And it becomes especially meaningful when it involves helping the elderly — particularly Holocaust survivors who are still with us.

In an era where the cost of living affects everyone, this fragile, shrinking group of survivors needs every bit of public support we can give.
The Meir Panim organization allows every citizen to take part in this historical act of kindness — not through words, but through action. With one click on their donation website, anyone can provide a hot meal, warm clothing, or a medical package to a survivor who hasn’t felt truly cared for in years.

A single donation, no matter how small, can change an entire day.
It could mean a warm meal delivered with a small note of kindness, an expensive medication made affordable, or simply a volunteer who stops by to ask, “How are you today?”

Acting with Sensitivity

Meir Panim operates exactly in that space — where humanitarian aid meets sensitivity and dignity.
It’s not just about distributing anonymous food packages to the needy. It’s about providing personal, respectful assistance: nutritious meals delivered to homes, properly fitted clothing, essential medical care, and quick responses to emergencies — all while ensuring consistent, ongoing support, not just one-time help.

None of this would be possible without public donations.
The Meir Panim donation platform makes it easy for anyone, anywhere, to contribute respectfully and directly. Every shekel has a purpose, every donation is recorded, and every donor receives an official tax receipt.
There’s no bureaucracy and no delays — donors can choose exactly what to support (meals, medical aid, emergency equipment) and even follow the long-term impact of their contribution.

Even a Small Amount Makes a Big Difference

The most powerful thing is realizing how simple and accessible it is to make an impact.
This isn’t about wealthy donors or corporations — even a 20-shekel donation can mean the difference between a regular day and a day when an elderly survivor eats a proper meal.

That’s the beauty of it — that a simple act, made through a donation website, can create essential humanitarian aid, in the right place, at the right time.

It’s time to begin.
